Great turnout for weekend XC

There was a great turnout at this weekend's XC races with 33 men competing at Oxshott Woods and 15 women racing at Wimbledon. Rhys Doherty and Lisa Bailey continued to show the same form that saw them lead the teams home at Denbies last weekend. Rhys finished fourth in 25:51 and Lisa finished sixth in 30:54.

With such a good turnout the men were able to field two teams which finished seventh and fourth respectively. Pete Gregorowski finished 36th in a time of 28:20 while Jim Lurkins was 50th in 28:55. James Darby (54th) and Dan Strang (72nd) made up the scoring for the A team. Other notable performances included Malcolm Fletcher and Mark Pattinson who were 3rd and 4th in their age groups.

At Wimbledon Lisa was followed over the line by Sarah Holt who finished18th in 32:08 and Emma Henston who was 38th on her XC debut for the club in 33:21. Eliza Hawthorn (41st) and Sophie Biggs (57th) also scored for the team and Sophie won her age group. The team was ranked 6th.
