Thirty-nine brave Stragglers ignored all the weather warnings to tackle the South of the Thames five mile race in West Horsley on Saturday. Despite strong winds, persistent light rain and plenty of mud, all finished with Pavel Przepiorski first home in 40th place and a time of 31:42.
Lex Prince was our fastest woman finishing 13th among the women in a time of 34:52. Sam Hawthorn crossed the line shortly after Pavel in a time of 31:47 while Claire Curtain was second fastest woman in 37:56.
Congratulations to all who completed the course, and in particular Sue Howarth who after attending many XC races to support the women's team, made her XC debut.
On Sunday, when conditions were barely better thanks to the high winds, Nic Douglas was first woman at the Kingston Half, finishing in 1:22:51 and 10th place overall. Mike Morris also participated, finishing just ahead of Nic in a time of 1:22:25.
